A remote, stunning and exotic destination. the land of the sun, surf, and unique outback that every traveler should visit
For a year of my life I had the pleasure to live in this stunning country and I absolutely loved it. Australia is one of the most beautiful countries in the world, it is young and multicultural, I was amazed that you could feel and find the European vibes everywhere you go even if you are on the other side of the world.
Australia’s quality of life and unlimited natural beauty make of it the ideal destination, if you have dreamed about moving over there or just for a few weeks holiday. The lifestyle in the big cities like Melbourne or Sydney is totally different from the other metropolises around the world, nobody is running or rushing around, Melbourne has had the “the world’s most liveable city” title for seven consecutive years even if it’s the second largest city in the country. It’s a booming metropolis that offers the best of Australian arts, culture, cuisine and landscapes, it’s a vibrant mix of hidden city lane-ways and street art and beautiful beaches.
I really loved living in Melbourne, is a city that can offer whatever you are looking for, the CBD is the heart of the city, where you have amazing rooftop gardens, first class restaurants, cool cafes, boutiques and the amazing vibes of St Kilda beach. Other very cool districts are Carlton, known for “Little Italy” and Fitzroy that is home to all alternative things of the city.
Just outside the city you have plenty of thing to see and do, like the Yarra Valley & Dandenong Ranges where you can enjoy a wine tour with a tasting in the many wineries and have a balloon flight over the valley. Or just one hour from the city you can discover the beauty of the seaside villages in the Mornington Peninsula, also you can drive the famous and spectacular Great Ocean Road to see the towering 12 Apostles, take some surf lessons and just enjoy the view of the nature.
To give you an idea, all the Australian cities combine the efficiency of the Northern European countries with the life style typical of southern countries.
From coast to coast, you’ll discover that each of Australia’s destinations is diverse and unforgettable, the turquoise waters of the Great Barrier Reef, the red sands of the outback, the coastal cliffs that outline the entire country are just few example of the beauty of Australia.
Being a very large continent, as large as Europe, with many different climates and time zones, many areas are characterised by various weather conditions. Australia is part of the southern hemisphere, so the seasons will be opposite to what we’re used to in Europe. When it’s winter in Europe, will be summer in Australia.
Australia’s climate varies extremely throughout the eight states and territories; there are four seasons across most of the country but only a wet and dry season in the tropical north that goes from Brisbane to Cairns. December to February is summer; March to May is autumn; June to August is winter; and September to November is spring. While in Queensland you will enjoy a tropical climate with warm-hot weather for most of the year, Melbourne has the “real” four seasons, with the winter around 8 – 15°C and the summer between 19 – 25°C, but you can enjoy it all year round.
The beaches are a huge part of Australian lifestyle, most of the Australian cities are based on the coast and most of the people visit the beach on a daily or weekly basis, spending mornings or few hours after work at the beach swimming or surfing, or just relaxing in the sunshine.
Another important part of the Australian lifestyle is the BBQ – you will find and use for free BBQ stations in every park and in most of the beaches or in other public areas. I love this about the public spaces in Oz, and it was really useful while I was travelling with the van around the country.
Everywhere you go, each city or town are often surrounded by the impressive beauty of Australian nature: beautiful beaches, hikes in the mountains and landscapes that look like they’re from another world!
