Not exactly a month that showcases Europe at its best holiday vacation, expect for skiing on the Alps between Italy, Switzerland and France. January is one of the best months to visit Southeast Asia – the region is dry and warm, but not too hot; Thailand, Sri Lanka and Philippines just to name few places – plus is a great time to visit the Caribbean and South America. The south offers warm climates and perfect temperatures, the islands like Antigua, St Lucia, Barbados, Cuba and countries such as Costa Rica, Belize and Argentina have an average of 22-27 degrees but without the high humidity of the summer.
This time of the year it’s also the perfect time for a trip to Australia and New Zealand that are in the full summer season. Other possibilities could be an adventure in Northern Europe, where it’s prime time to see the Northern Lights, or a visit to luxury Dubai and the Oman desert.

January is one of the best months of the year to visit Mexico. It's in the heart of the dry season, but not as busy as December or February. Relax in warm sunshine on white sand beaches in Quintana Roo, Puerto Vallarta or Cabo San Lucas, and explore the country’s magnificent ancient ruins and colonial cities.

One of the best months to visit Costa Rica. The weather is great across most of the country. Things are drying out after the rain season and heating up along the Pacific coast and it's time to discover the popular attractions like Puerto Viejo, Arenal, Monteverde and the Parque Nacional Manuel Antonio.

This is a great time to travel in Sri Lanka, expect temperatures of around 30°C along the southern and western coast with lots of sunshine. There are great places to explore, Galle, Colombo, Tangalle, Weligama, climb Sigiriya Rock, go on Safari in Kaudulla NP or Yala NP, ride the Kandy to Ella train and take a photo at Nine Arch Bridge in Ella.

January is peak season in Thailand, and the weather is great in every part of the country. On both the Gulf and the Andaman sea (Phuket and Krabi) you will find a lot of sunshine, while in the north around Chiang Mai, temperatures are cooler than other times of the year. Bangkok, Phi Phi Islands, Phang Nga Bay and the Similan Islands National Park are just few of the fantastic place to visit in Thailand.

January is the warmest month of the year in New Zealand and amongst the best times to enjoy the many outdoor activities that this country has to offer, and January is also the time to enjoy the sea. You can do all sorts of water sports including sailing, fishing, swimming, surfing, windsurfing, water-skiing, and diving. Other fantastic places to visit are Tongariro Alpine Crossing, Glacier Trekking on Fox, Franz Josef and explore Abel Tasman NP.

January is one of the cooler months in Oman, which makes it a much better time to visit, as in the summer the temperatures are incredibly high in the desert. With vast deserts, brilliant beaches and stunning architecture across its towns and cities, more and more tourists are starting to discover this country. Some of the most fantastic things to see are the Sultan Qaboos Mosque in Muscat, an incredible religious building, the Nizwa Fort, you can't miss a visit to Oman Desert and for a more unique experience then consider a swim to the Bimmah Sinkhole near to the famous Wadi Shab.

Winter is a popular time for people across the northern USA and from Europe to travel to Florida for a chance to escape the cold, and you can't go wrong with Florida. Whether you're going to Universal Orlando or Disney World, have fun in Miami and South beach or explore the Everglades National Park and Key West, a trip to Florida is always a good option.

Due to the dry weather, January is considered high season in Kenya, an excellent time to spot wildlife, both on the ground and in the air in Maasai Mara and in the north part of Serengeti National Park. From the Amboseli National Park you will have stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Italian Alps are breathtaking mountains this time of the year, they are the best in Europe for skiing and Italian ski resorts are among the best ones in the world. Fantastic places such as Val di Sole, Val di Fiemme, Val di Fassa, Canazei, Ortisei, Madona di Campiglio and Cortina d’Ampezzo offer hundreds of kilometres of trails of all difficulty levels.
