TWO WEEKS ITINERARY - Cuba

TheLionVoyager

I based this itinerary of 2 weeks in Cuba on the same one that I did with my friends in 2019, but if you have more time you can explore the Eastern part of the Island.

Day 1: Arrival to the Havana International Airport. Check-in in the hotel or casa particular (sleep in Havana)

Day 2: Visit Havana – Old Havana, Malecon, Revolution Square (sleep in Havana)

Day 3: In the morning you can take a ride in a classic Cuban car and/or visit the Revolution Museum – Pick up your rental car (or another transfer if you have arranged it) and drive to Trinidad, around 4 hours drive (sleep in Trinidad)

Day 4: Visit Trinidad, a beautiful colourful well kept colonial town (sleep in Trinidad – we stayed at the Casa Colonial Villa Martinez, amazing place)

Day 5: In the morning, take the opportunity to visit one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Cuba, El Nicho Waterfall, just 1 hour drive from Trinidad. Do a quick stop in Cinfuegos before heading back to Havana airport and catch the internal flight to the paradise of Cayo Largo del Sur

Day 6: Cayo Largo del Sur

Day 7: Cayo Largo del Sur

Day 8: Cayo Largo del Sur

Day 9: Usually the flights are early in the morning to go back in the main Island, once you arrive at the airport (you need to arrange the transportation in advance), your next stop will be Viñales (sleep in Viñales)

Day 10: Visit of Viñales – Horseback Riding with a visit to the tobacco Farm and visit the Mural de la Prehistoria (sleep in Viñales)

Day 11: In the morning hit the road to Cayo Jutias (a little paradise), there are no hotel or casas particular in the area so you will need to sleep in Santa Lucia. When you see that the beach gets empty before sunset in Cayo Jutias, there is a reason, sand-flies! so I’d recommend to leave to avoid bites

Day 12: Have a relaxing morning in Cayo Jutias beaches then in the a afternoon start the road to Palma Rubia where you will get a 20 min ferry to another little paradise of Cuba, Cayo Levisa (sleep in Cayo Levisa)

Day 13: Cayo Levisa (sleep in Cayo Levisa)

Day 14: Get the last few hours of Cuban sunshine then get the ferry back to Palma Rubia (plan very well in advance the time of the ferry, there are only 2 ferries a day), to go back to Havana Airport

Some cool tips you should know about Cuba

01.

Arrange your transportations in advance

Private taxi or shuttles are the best way to visit Cuba, the families in the casas particular will help you to arrange those if need it. There is only one public bus company (Viazul) that covers the main cities

02.

stay in a casa particular instead of a hotel

To have a full and memorable Cuban experience stay in a casa particular, run by local families, it's very affordable and they cook delicious dishes

03.

Always have cash with you

Try to have always with you enough cash to live with for few days, in our trip we had few issues with banks and cards, every time you see an ATM get some cash
