WHERE TO GO WHEN: MY GUIDE TO THE BEST HOLIDAY DESTINATIONS IN THE WORLD FOR EVERY MONTH OF THE YEAR

WE TRAVELLED ALL AROUND CORNWALL FOR 15 DAYS AND DISCOVERED FANTASTIC PLACES

Spectacular cities, ancient ruins, wonderful museums, wonderful mountains, great beaches, and of course food

A Week Between Palm Trees And Turtles

The beautiful natural features of the UK may not be the first things that comes to mind when planning a visit to England, Scotland or Wales. Most people planning their first visit think about cities like London, Liverpool or Edinburgh.
London is the unmissable gateway, and there’s enough here to keep you busy for weeks. The Tower of London, the Big Ben and St Paul’s Cathedral are obvious highlights, it’s one of the most beautiful cities in Europe! A bustling city where you can find always something to do at any time of the day and night, full of history, culture, style, and great food.
There are so many other places you can travel in the UK aside from London that have just as much history, beauty, and charm, and you should try to make it to at least few of them.
UK is divided into several regions, each with its own history, culture and traditions.
The Midlands (middle region) there are the vibrant cities of Birmingham and Nottingham, and a mixture of culture and history in the city where Shakespeare was born, Stratford-upon-Avon.
The West Country, offers the rocky coast of Cornwall, with excellent conditions for surfing, while in south-west you can visit the picturesque villages from Cotswolds, Somerset, Devon, Salisbury Cathedral and Stonehenge.
In North Country, you will discover the splendour of the lakes, mountains, castles, coast and national parks, combined with the medieval city of York and animated cities of Liverpool and Manchester, famous for football, culture and music. In Scotland and Wales you will find some of the best picturesque scenery of the country.

10 places you should visit in the United Kingdom that aren’t London

You’ll fall in love with Cornwall.

Newquay,England

One of the UK’s favourite summer destinations, from dramatic coastlines to beautiful sandy beaches and from pretty harbour villages to fantastic coastal walks.
Cornwall, located on the south-western corner of England, its home to many towns and villages that have a unique character and beauty but it can be hard to decide where’s best to see and stay, you’ll find an abundance of places to visit in Cornwall that will leave you plenty of memories.
Here’s my favourite and most memorable places I’ve visited in the last years: Tintagel, Port Isaac, Padstow, Constantine Bay, Carnewas and Bedruthan Steps, Newquay, Saint Ives, Portheras Cove, Land’s End, Minack Theatre, Pedn Vounder Beach, St Michael’s Mount, Kynance Cove, Lizard Point, Fowey and Torquay.

Discover the beautiful city of Bath.

The Roman Baths,England

Bath is located in the countryside in the South West of England, is very accessible from London, by train it takes just 1 hour and 30 minutes. It’s famous for its Roman Baths (which is where the name comes from), hot springs, and beautiful architecture.
The Romans took advantage of the area’s natural hot springs by building the majestic Roman Baths, now a UNESCO heritage site. You can relax and experience the mineral-rich waters at Thermae Bath Spa – don’t miss the spectacular views of the city from the rooftop pool. It can be visited in a weekend combined to a visit of the city of Bristol and Stonehenge.

Explore Stonehenge, a must-see site when planning your trip to the UK.

Stonehenge,England

One of England’s most iconic monuments, Stonehenge is a masterpiece of engineering, a fascinating place to visit.
Stonehenge is a prehistoric circular stone masterpiece, constructed of immense sizes of stones, ditches and mounds, it is one of the most popular historic wonders of the world. It is the ruins of a ring of stones that stand upright within the ground. The myths surrounding the stones are just one of many reasons Stonehenge has long been a popular tourist attraction in the United Kingdom.

Cambridge, a town by the river full of charm, one of the most famous university towns in the world.

Cambridge,England

Cambridge is well known for being one of the world’s top universities, the University of Cambridge is made up of 31 colleges that are spread out around the town. The fact of being a university town also brings Cambridge a young, vibrant feel, and means that there are plenty of superb spots to enjoy and relax for tourists as well.
Punting on The River Cam (very similar to the gondola in Venice), is one of the main activities to do, when you take a punting tour you’ll get to see most of the famous landmarks like the Bridge of Sighs, all while relaxing and floating down the river. Another activity that cannot to be missed is a walking tour around the town, you can even join a free tour arranged by the students of the colleges, with this walk you will explores the remarkable architecture, the main colleges, spectacular churches and the green spaces of the city, Cambridge is a seriously impressive town to explore by foot.

Brighton is a vibrant seaside city in the south of England.

Brighton West Pier,England

Located only about an hour south of London by train, this seaside town in England makes one of the most favourite escapes for Londoners on sunny days. You can relax on the beach or visit many attractions such as the Brighton Pier, the Pavilion, the Marina and The Laines that offers a shopper’s paradise of independent shops and boutiques.
The seafront is extremely beautiful and lively, it’s a great place to spend the day, the afternoon and the night. Brighton is a great base to explore the South National Park, home to the dramatic Seven Sisters cliffs and some of southern England’s most charming villages.

Seven Sisters Country Park & the Jurassic Coast, the amazing coast in the south of England.

Seven Sisters Cliffs, England

Situated in the South Downs National Park, the Seven Sisters Country Park is made up of 280 hectares of chalk cliffs, it’s a popular place for outdoor activities like walking, bird watching, cycling, canoeing and paddle boarding. The Country Park is named after the famous Seven Sisters cliffs, that is one of Britain’s finest unspoilt coastlines.
If you want to see the ‘classic’ view of the Seven Sisters I highly suggest to stop in Cuckmere Haven and at the Beachy Head Lighthouse, the views are fantastic.
Few more miles west towards Cornwall, there is another amazing place to visit, the Jurassic Coast, a World Heritage Site on the English Channel coast, begins at Orcombe Point in Exmouth, Devon, and continues for 95 miles to Old Harry Rocks, near Swanage, Dorset.
This is a hugely diverse landscape of massive geological importance. The rocks formation in this area started around 250 million years ago. The continuous coastal erosion over the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods have created an amazing rocks formation, at different times this area has been desert, shallow tropical sea and marsh. This stunning coastline is filled with dramatic rock formations, an abundance of fossils, and lots of fantastic beaches, quiet bays and coves. This is a seriously beautiful part of England, and there are so many incredible places to discover.
One the most famous place to visit is Durdle Door, the “door” is a natural limestone arch over the sea, caused by millions of years of erosion. Other amazing attractions to visit are Lulworth Cove, Fossil Forest, Old Harry Rocks, West Bay, and Portland Bill.

Edinburgh is the most beautiful city in Scotland.

Calton Hill-Edinburgh,Scotland

A beautiful city perfect for a city break weekend, Edinburgh is one of the most varied and interesting cities in the UK and you will never be short of things to do here. Usually I like to walk around towns, and it’s the best way to explore Edinburgh as it’s very easy to go around. Everyone should see Edinburgh Castle, even if you don’t go inside the castle, the views from the entrance are incredible.
Calton Hill is another amazing place in the heart of the city, is the ideal escape from the busy streets, a walk up to Calton Hill is one of the best thing to do in my opinion in Edinburgh, the panoramic views from the top of the hill are the best of the city and you can see the major landmarks from there.
While in Edinburgh a visit to Dean Village is a must, a picturesque village nearby the city, it’s a hidden gem. The village itself is very interesting and situated right next to the Water of Leith. It is a short walk from the city – around 20 minutes, really nice to spend a couple of hours walking around here.

Luskentyre beach is one of the most spectacular beaches in UK.

Luskentyre Beach-Isle of Harris,Scotland

Off the west coast of Scotland, the Isle of Lewis and Isle of Harris form the island chain of the Outer Hebrides. Luskentyre beach is located in the northern island – Isle of Harris, it is one of the largest and most spectacular beaches in the United Kingdom. The islands is connected to the Scottish mainland with a direct ferry departing from Uig Skye Ferry Terminal and arriving in the town of Tarbert, the journey takes approximately 1h and 40m. The water at Luskentyre beach has a fantastic blue colour and the beach and dunes are outstanding, from here you can see the island of Taransay, and it’s possible to spot dolphins, seals, otters and sea eagles during a walk. It’s the kind of scenery you might expect down on the southern European coast or on the other side of the world in some tropical destination, but the Isle of Harris is a unique and breath-taking island, perfect to add to your bucket list and ideal for your next holiday.

Tenby, a beautiful medieval and colourful city on the coast of Wales.

Tenby,Wales

Situated in Pembrokeshire in West Wales, Tenby is a delightful little charming seaside town, around 90 miles away from Cardiff. Tenby is a popular tourist destination in the summer months, there are plenty of beaches to relax and fish, and many coastal walks like the Pembrokeshire Coast Path for those who want to get more active.
Walk around north beach and the harbour and get to Tenby Castle, the view is fantastic, the coloured houses, the beaches, and the harbour with many small fishing boats give you an amazing feeling about this town. Walk along Tenby’s South Beach toward Giltar Point and then start of the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path for fantastic views of Caldey Island. While we visited Tenby, I loved visiting Tenby’s Castle beach and watch the advancing tide consume St. Catherine’s Island.

Snowdonia National Park, perfect park for travelers looking for adventures in Wales.

Snowdonia National Park,Wales

Mountains, castles and coast, there’s plenty of adventure to be found in Snowdonia, the oldest and biggest National Parks in Wales. Snowdon, is the highest point in Wales, 1,085m. On a clear day, the views from the top are outstanding, you can see all the way down to Pembrokeshire, up to England’s Peak District and across to Ireland.
In the park you can find many paths for expert climbers, but you can still enjoy the big-mountain experience if you want to enjoy the park with easier walks and with small kids. The circular walk around Cwm Idwal is a relatively easy way to get into the heart of Snowdonia’s most dramatic landscapes, while the Mawddach Trail around Barmouth has epic views of the estuary and Cader Idris.
In the park you can visit some of the best medieval castles in Europe, all of them are worth a visit, Beaumaris Castle, Harlech Castle, Caernarfon Castle, and Conwy Castle. Beddgelert village is one of the cutest and most charming villages inside the Snowdonia Park, a tiny village at the confluence of the rivers Colwan and Glaslyn, it’s one of the favourite starting point for walks and climbs.
